Captain Planet and those 5 annoying-ass kids battle their worst opponent: AIDS. I don’t really understand the storyline, but from what I gather, there’s some random kid that’s really good at basketball…”Unfortunately” (I and every person in the worodl who had to suffer watching this shit, is shouting: “YYYAAAAAYYY!!”) he develops the HIV virus. Yes, the HIV Virus. …dot…dot…dot… The episode is called “A Formula for Hate” Part 1 is located here: youtube.com

  2. laughlikeahorse says:

@ 8:19: The coach tells Todd to “SUIT UP!”

And now Neil Patrick Harris’s best-known role is Barney on How I Met Your Mother.

I like to think that Barney’s catchphrase was inspired by this episode.

  3. StfuNao says:

i think spreading hate and destroying stuff is illegal

  4. StfuNao says:

lol those people in that cartoon are stupid. AIDS can’t be spread by getting touched by someone with AIDS… only by blood transplantation or sex

  5. nabz5 says:

how cartoonz hav changed….this was lil cheesy now watchin it…….but captain planet…wuuu huuuu the power iz urz

  6. SlashinatorX says:

Have you seen Nostalgia Critic’s review on this show?

  7. HomelessJoe1 says:

But a kid show? This kids are just learning how to say blue, but yet their talking about a unprotected sex and drugs using needles. lol?

  8. Antunec says:

Really? I’d like to see that.

  9. whitewolfalicara says:

Wait, why the hell were they arrested in the end? What did they do that was illegal?

“You spread lies about AIDS! You must be punished!” lol

  10. whitewolfalicara says:

Wow, I had no idea you could take over the world just by spreading AIDS.

6:31 I would not be like the kid, who seems glad to have some strange blue man in gay underwear flying him around; I’d scream, beat him over the head, and run away.

  11. SlashinatorX says:

the crowd during the AIDS speech are exactly what Obama supporters are like.

  12. Peaceplatform says:

C’mon guys – a completely unrealistic storyline, but when you’re tackling such a taboo issue considering the audience, you have to give them some latitude.

Besides, even mentioning HIV in a 90s kids show, let alone basing an entire episode on the issue, is amazing. I loved this show as a kid but don’t remember this episode. Glad they made it though.

  13. chrisz71 says:

I don’t understand why they got arrested. What exactly did they do that would warrant an arrest? Except slander.

  14. chrisz71 says:

“So that’s why he broke up with me”- deduced that a little fast, no? And god that laugh of theirs is the most annoying thing on earth- probably because I know someone who actually laughs like that.

And come on, a fedora and trench coat? Wouldn’t that stand out a bit much in a school? a tall rat man is hiding in a closet in a trench coat and hat, and nobody is the least bit concerned?

and the mom “stooooop. Stop it.” Soft and annoying voice will always stop a riot immediately. Always.

  15. ilksr says:

Is all you need as disguise a trench coat and a fedora hat?? Also, that crowd is weird. I mean you trash produce sale and make a kids life hell then a blue guy goes “AIDS is not spread by casual contact.” and everyones like YAY!!!!!! LET HIM PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. ilksr says:

0:30-0:34 “whatdoes it take to get rid of these Planet-Twits?” A FUCKING GUN.
    WITH BULLETS.

  17. PrettyHeroine says:

    I agree.

Even though the plot was difficult, I think this episodes teaches others about AIDS and how people could misinterpret a disease. This 1990’s episode was pretty good for it’s time.

    However, I think some people would gossip, or lie, about someone with a disease (like AIDS). To me, this episode teaches two lessions;

    1. about AIDS
    2. about people gossiping and lieing about a disease or medical condishion.

  18. Masterdramon3 says:

Was this episode lame? Of course.

But I have to give it tremendous credit for focusing on an issue that most kids’ shows wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole.

During the 90s, ANY sources of AIDS education were difficult to come by as a kid, and though this episode may feature a ridiculous plot and even more ridiculous dialogue I applaud it for the general message it sends.

This episode served to educate many children about the basic facts of AIDS, and in that sense it was not lame at all.

  19. kirayuy833 says:

AIDS Gives you mystic visions? Good to know.

  20. gillebro says:

wow, i used to love this show as a kid. but this episode sucks!

  21. mandapaige1 says:

How Do You Stop Aids? You Form An Angry Mob!!!

  22. LordCard says:

This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

The sad part about it is, this kind of attitude is actually not uncommon among your normal undereducated type.

  23. efwiz says:

“What are you gonna do to us, Captain Planet?!”

    “Wellllllll…nothing.”

    WTF?!

  24. efwiz says:

    “Then let’s…DO IT!”

    That’s how AIDS spreads =3

  25. RoseJnr says:

why the hell does scumm want to spread AIDS in the first place…just means he could get it…..
